Spulenkerne neu gedacht und gemacht!

Spulenkerne neu gedacht und gemacht!

Hallo an alle 3D Druck Enthusiasten da draußen.

Spool cores rethought and remade!

Hello to all 3D printing enthusiasts out there.

Today we open our new blog and have an interesting novelty for you.

When we started with the production of PLA, we thought a lot about what we want to stand for and where our path should lead us. One of the topics was, besides our decision to produce our ETP materials exclusively from food safe raw materials, which spool cores we want to use. For this, we already looked at many different types at that time. From PP, to ABS and, of course, cardboard cores. None of these solutions suited us and since the use of too much cardboard in particular is, in our opinion, less good for the environment, we decided to produce our own spool cores wherever possible. Therefore, since 2014, we have been producing our spool cores from recycled PLA. However, when we started making PLA, there were also only a few colors available. Therefore, the recycled material was always rather dirty, grayish to equally dirty brownish. Of course, we didn’t want to offer you spools like that. That’s why, until recently, we dyed it black. But year after year, more and more colors were added, until we are now standing here and can offer you over 90 colors for every purpose. And when we recently tested a new injection molding machine, we wanted to know how the spool cores look today, without adding colorants. And lo and behold, the first color was a bronze-red shimmer.

We liked that so much that we decided to produce our recycled spool cores only from pure recycled PLA from now on. So you will find all kinds of colors in the future, absolutely individual. From that point of view, every spool core will be unique.
